On Saturday May 21, 2016 the P.A.V.I.S. Unit of the Niagara Regional Police Service conducted their annual prescription drug drop-off day. This day utilized five separate locations around the region.
This initiative is to bring awareness to members of our community that they should not be keeping old or unused prescription drugs in their residence. These drugs can potentially fall into the wrong hands and should be disposed of properly.
This year the community turned over 215 pounds of prescription drugs. These drugs included hydromorphone, Oxycodone, Codeine, Demerol, Lorazepam, and Morphine.
This annual initiative is used to bring awareness, however the public is reminded that you can turn over these prescription drugs to most of your local pharmacies for disposal.
