A 17-year-old local youth, already before the courts for robbery and other charges, is now accused of pulling out a pellet gun and threatening the host of a house party over the weekend.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 1, 2016, a west-end house party on Ashley Crescent, hosted by a 19-year-old, had concluded. The 17-year-old accused, who had attended earlier, returned at approximately 2:15 a.m., advising the victim he had left a bag in the house.

The victim, who did not know the accused until that evening, allowed the teen to search the house while he accompanied him. The accused left but then soon returned a few minutes later, demanding to search the house yet again. This time the victim denied him entry at the front door, where the accused then pulled out a black air pistol that looked like a legitimate firearm. The accused waved the pellet gun around while threating the victim. The victim closed the door but then heard the sound of smashing glass, realizing the accused had broken the kitchen window.

Kingston Police was called and a description of the teen suspect given out. A uniform patrol officer located the male in the area of Ashley Crescent and Glen Castle Road where he was arrested at approximately 3:00 a.m. A search of the accused located the air pistol hidden in one of his pant legs.

The youth was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, use imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence, possession of a dangerous weapon, mischief, and three counts of a breach of Recognizance. The youth is already before the courts and accused of multiple incidents in 2015 where he was charged with robbery, use of a disguise, uttering a death threat, two counts of assault and breach of an Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Undertaking.

A 25-year-old local man is facing charges after a Kingston Police uniform patrol officer came upon the man passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle with the engine still running.

At approximately 4:00 a.m. on October 2, 2016, the officer observed the vehicle parked outside of a residence on Cliff Crescent with the lights on and the engine running. They then noticed the accused slumped over the wheel. When the officer opened the door to speak to the man his foot pressed down on the accelerator, revving the engine, but luckily the vehicle was not in drive. The officer had to physically remove the man’s leg from the gas pedal.

The man showed obvious signs of impairment and was consequently arrested. After being transported to police headquarters a qualified breath technician determined the accused was approximately two times over the legal limit. He was consequently charged with impaired driving while in care and control of a motor vehicle and driving with excess blood alcohol.

The accused was later released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) with a future court date. His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and would face a one year suspension if convicted.
