Two males were arrested after fleeing a Whitby break and enter in a stolen car and then trying to evade police.

On Monday, May 23, 2016, at approximately 12:20 a.m., police in Central West Division responded to an automotive business on Hopkins Street regarding a break and enter in progress. Suspects were observed inside the business using a gas-powered cutting saw. As officers arrived, two suspects fled the business in a car and did not stop for police. The car, later determined to have been stolen from Scarborough, narrowly missed colliding with a police cruiser head-on before coming to a stop on Dundas Street East when its front tire pulled off the rim during an attempted U-turn. The car was pinned by a police cruiser, but the suspects were able to flee on foot. One suspect was arrested after a short foot pursuit while the other suspect was apprehended by the DRPS K-9 Unit.

Darnel McFARLANE, age 29, of Trowbridge Court in Oshawa, and Kyle CHAPMAN, age 23, of Paddington Crescent in Oshawa, are charged with: Break and Enter; Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000; Possession of Stolen Property Under $5,000; Disguise with Intent; and Possession of Break In Instruments.

McFARLANE is further charged with Dangerous Driving and Fail to Stop for Police. Both suspects were held for a bail hearing.
