Two people are facing charges after a male was seen in possession of a gun at an Oshawa Walmart Friday morning.
On Friday May 20, 2016, at approximately 11:00 a.m., officers were called to the Walmart store on Laval Street in Oshawa after a complainant reported seeing a male with a gun. The male was exiting a taxi when the gun dropped to the ground. He picked it up and entered the store with a female and a child.
Officers and store security members monitored the couple shopping and a plan was made with Tactical Support and K-9 to arrest the couple when they exited the store. They were arrested without incident outside the Walmart and a loaded gun was seized from the female’s purse. No one was hurt during the incident.
Levan HAMILTON, age 23 of Toronto and Stephanie DAMANT, age 26 of Oshawa, are charged with: Possession of a Restricted Firearm – No Licence; Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm; Possession of a Restricted Firearm – Knowing Possession is not Authorized and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order.
HAMILTON is also charged with Occupy Motor Vehicle With Firearm and Breach Probation x2. They were held for bail hearings.
