Investigators are trying to identify two more suspects after one was arrested following a violent assault in Oshawa.
On Saturday, May 7, 2016, at approximately 3:20 a.m., officers in Central East Division responded to a residence in the area of Centre Street South and Gibb Street for an assault that had just occurred. An argument between two males turned physical and a suspect assaulted the victim, knocking him to the ground. While down on the ground, the suspect stomped on the victim’s head and was then joined by two other male suspects who also continued to assault the helpless victim. After the victim lost consciousness, the suspects robbed him of personal belongings and fled the residence.
The victim, a 33-year-old male from Oshawa, was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for serious injuries, thought to be life-threatening at the time. His condition has since improved and he continues to recover.
On May 9, 2016, officers arrested the main suspect, but are appealing for information as the identities of the other two suspects are unknown.
Mitchell PORTER, age 23, of No Fixed Address, is charged with: Assault Cause Bodily Harm: Robbery with Violence; Uttering Threats x2; and Obstruct Justice. He was held for a bail hearing.
Descriptions of the other two suspects are limited, described only as male white in their early 20s.
