Mississauga – Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau continue to investigate an incident that took place at a residence in Mississauga, in 2012, which resulted in the shooting death of a young male.
On Friday, December 7, 2012, at approximately 12:25 a.m., police responded to a 911 call from a homeowner on Corkstone Glade in Mississauga, reporting that three males, including two that were armed, had broken into their home. Upon arrival, police located a male, who was deceased as a result of a gunshot wound, and there was evidence that an altercation had taken place.
The three culprits had been confronted by the homeowner, and a struggle ensued, resulting in the death of the young male. The deceased was identified as Ibrahim ABUKAR, a 22 year-old resident of Toronto. After a lengthy investigation, police have identified two suspects responsible for the home invasion and the death of Ibrahim ABUKAR.
On January 25th, 2016, 42 year-old Jason HAMILTON of Mississauga turned himself into police and was charged with manslaughter. HAMILTON was released on bail and is awaiting trial.
Haldane SMITHEN-DAVIS, a 36 year-old male from Toronto, was arrested in the United Kingdom on September 17, 2015, for the offence of Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Robbery with a Firearm. Today, SMITHEN-DAVIS was extradited back to Canada. SMITHEN-DAVIS is being held for a bail hearing and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Friday, May 27th, 2016.
