Arrest made in Pickering stabbing incident

A 21-year-old Ajax man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in the parking lot of a Pickering bar.

On Saturday, May 14, 2016 at approximately 1 a.m., officers were called to the parking lot of the Bear and Firkin bar on Kingston Road in Pickering. Several males were involved in an altercation and two males in their 20s received non-life threatening injuries. Both men were taken to hospital for treatment then released. One male in his 20s tried to stop the fleeing vehicle and rolled over the top of the hood. He was not injured.

At approximately 8 p.m., officers were called to a disturbance at a residence on Lax Avenue in Ajax. One of the parties at the residence was the suspect in the stabbing incident earlier in the day. He was arrested without incident. No one was injured in the Lax Avenue disturbance.

Alexander CERMANO-MEYER, age 21, of Lax Avenue in Ajax is charged with: Assault Cause Bodily Harm x2; Assault with a Weapon x2 and Weapons Dangerous. He was held for a bail hearing.

No other suspects are sought in connection with the stabbing incident. Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact Det. Yamada of the West Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2529.
